100 Pound Weight Loss

On January 1, 2007, something had to change.  I had been obese most of my life and morbidly obese (100+ pounds overweight) for the last decade.  However, everywhere I looked I found quick-help information for people who wanted to lose ten to thirty pounds.  I knew from past experience the thirty-day or twelve-week diet plans would end up in failure.  At over 300 pounds, with all the medical problems associated with morbid obesity, I needed help overcoming an addiction to overeating.  That’s right, I was addicted!  I ate until the emotional euphoria took over and I was too stuffed to take another bite.

With the threat of a heart attack imminent in my life during 2006 (I wonder if I’ve had a few minor ones) my wife asked me to look into gastric bypass surgery or stomach stapling.  She was worried she would find me dead one morning, because the effort of going to bed at night was a major effort that left me winded for several minutes.  However, I know a person who had the surgery, lost weight and then gained it all back with major health consequences.  I realized surgery doesn’t cure the addiction or break the cycle, so I started searching for a permanent fix to the problem.

The world is awash in an ocean of information on weight loss.  Misinformation is everywhere and many of the diet plans I found are downright unhealthy (even though they can provide quick weight-loss).  So I searched everywhere and started to piece together the right information that would allow me to be successful and avoid the pitfalls of previous attempts to lose the blubber I carried.  In essence, much of what you find here will not be new, but consists of truths that have been woven together to first help me lose over 100 pounds of net body fat and then to help anyone who wants to realize their Ultimate-Self, whether that means losing a few pounds or breaking the cycle of yo-yo dieting that causes clinical or morbid obesity.

My research resulted in what I call Ultimate-Self Realization, a process of Supplementation, Exercise, Nutrition and Support that conquers obesity.  The letters of the main components of the process form the acronym SENS, as in making common SENS (pronounced like sense) of it all:

S = Supplementation

E = Exercise

N = Nutrition

S = Support

The common SENS principles of Ultimate-Self Realization also developed into what I call Ten Simple Truths:

The Ten Ultimate-Self Common SENS Simple Truths

1 Quit Dieting
2 Your Ultimate-Self is already inside you, waiting to be realized
3 Weight-loss is NOT the primary goal
4 You Need the Green Drink
5 Exercise is very simple – MOVE
6 Make today count – one day at a time
7 Eat more often, 5-6 times per day
8 Restrict consumption of fat to less than 30% (an average of 20%)
9 Restrict sugar intake to an average of 4 or less grams per serving
10 Stay hydrated, preferably with the green drink

After eight months of following the Ultimate-Self Realization process and ten simple truths I had lost over 100 pounds of fat.   I also had the energy of a teenager and I regularly walk several miles per day, ride my bike 25 to 100 miles or more at any given time, swim, hike and enjoy life like I have never experienced before.  The health problems I had from being obese are gone.  I have a new lease on life.
